Did Standard seem to be lacking an aggro deck with some staying power? Maybe with a little fine tuning, today’s deck could be it. It might resemble a good
Draft deck, but that’s because it’s actually a Block deck! Despite that, it still cashed a Standard Daily Event, which just goes to show how powerful the
archetype might be.
There’s a whole horde of aggressive warriors in white and black and plenty of spells that work well with them. I bet Abzan Ascendancy isn’t one of those
spells you thought of though. Not only does it give you insurance against End Hostilities, it also pumps the front end of your team and allows you to make
suicidal attacks that don’t actually lose you any creatures. I also appreciate the use of fetchlands to power the Murderous Cuts.
I’m sure numerous upgrades could be made to the deck, including the manabase and sideboard, if you were to work on a full Standard version. Things like
Mardu Hordechief might not cut it.
