Daily Digest: The Cards Don’t Matter

GerryT has found something special. Do you have a lot of Modern cards without having a cohesive deck? Don’t let that stop you! The $5,000 Premier IQ at #SCGPHILLY awaits!

You might hear a high level player say something like “the cards don’t matter.” What they mean is that, given any sort of reasonable tool, they will find a
way to get the job done.

Well, _VFS_ might be close to actually proving that theory.

In a recent Modern Daily event, it seems he couldn’t decide what to play. Jund, Abzan, B/G, Ajundi — each of these decks has their pros and cons. How are
you supposed to decide on Pillar of Flame vs Lightning Bolt? What about Kitchen Finks vs Loxodon Smiter vs Sin Collector?

Well, you no longer have to decide! Clearly you should just play them all.

Overall, his deck doesn’t feel much different than a random B/G/x deck. It has removal, reasonable threats, and powerful sideboard cards. You might not
have a higher density of things like Stony Silence, but you have access to enough cards that do similar things that it feels like you’re not playing
singleton at all.
