If you’ve been trying to find out what’s good in Modern, perhaps you should be looking at the Magic Online results. The bannings recently went into effect on Magic Online, and there are plenty of decks out there that show promise in a Birthing Pod-free format.
This deck utilizes Life from the Loam alongside Seismic Assault to kill every creature in sight, but it also kills your opponent very quickly.
I really like Faithless Looting as both something to find Life from the Loam and something to do with your excess lands once you’ve found it. The blue splash version has Izzet Charm as well. I probably like that list the best, but you have to find a replacement for Dig Through Time.
Overall, I think this archetype has the potential to break out with a little bit of tuning.
