This draft kinda sucked. I’m not sure if I even took the best Blue White card in the pack but Swans is Eugene Harvey’s favourite card of all time so I had to take it. After that there were some White cards and not much else which I was fine with. Pack 2 I didn’t expect to get much of anything because of the first pack. I thought about splashing the Power of Fire and I would’ve if I had taken the Silkbind Faerie first but I don’t think it was worth it without it. Pack 3 wasn’t great either but I got lots of two-drops to fill out the curve. The deck ended up being mediocre with a few good cards and a few cards that I’d rather not have played.
Round 1 I played against a quick Green deck. Game 1 he got ahead with Nettle Sentinel and Desecrator Hag. I was going to take over the game with the Folio but he blew it up with Wickerbough Elder and played Roughshod Mentor and Monstrify. I couldn’t deal with giant trampling dudes. Games 2 and 3 I was able to stabilise and win with the Folio. I would’ve gotten crushed if he drew the Elder in either game to blow up a Curse of Chains on one of his dudes.
Round 2 I played against a Blue White deck splashing Red for Firespout. Game 1 he played the Blue Red Hatchling turn 4. I played Cenn’s Enlistment instead of using one of my Curse of Chains on it. This turned out to be a big mistake when he played Clout of the Dominus on it next turn. I would’ve won this game easily if I had Chainsed it but instead I had no way to deal with the Hatchling. Games 2 and 3 saw Stillmoon Cavalier hold him off while the Folio beat him.
I’ve never been a big fan of the Folio but it was excellent in this deck. I think it’s because my deck was good at putting up some defense but would often get overpowered. If I had the Folio to let me trade multiple bad cards for their good cards I could keep up and eventually take over. I also had lots of removal which I could hold until the Folio got active.
I split the finals.
Until tomorrow…
