I think that Incremental Blight is a better card than Wilt-Leaf Liege but taking the Liege first leaves me with more options and I’d much rather be White than Black. White was apparently the correct place to be. It’s a good thing my deck was pretty much complete by pack 3 since somehow I didn’t get any White cards. I’m not sure what happened whether someone switched or the packs just didn’t have any White cards but whatever the cause pack 3 was simply a disaster. I was happy to get the Leering Emblem late because I’d been wanting to try it for a while and this seemed like a good deck for it.
Round 1 I played a couple of uninteresting games against a mono Green deck. Both games I was able to hold off his ground dudes and attack with some fliers until he died.
Round 2 I played against forum poster ghweiss who had a solid mono Black deck. Game 1 was interesting for a while. We both had lots of threats and answers. I had Oona’s Grace so I chose to play quite defensively trading cards as much as possible figuring that I’d eventually win because he’d have a bunch of extra lands. This plan didn’t quite work because he played Midnight Banshee perhaps the best card in the format against my deck since I have no way whatsoever to remove it. I thought I might steal the game with Mistmeadow Witch the Liege and lots of lands but I had to tap out for the Witch and he had Desecrator Hag to get back Soul Snuffers and kill it. Game 2 was less interesting because I mulliganed and didn’t play lands.
Until tomorrow…
