The third episode of Magic’s Reality Fracture story starts off with Vraska and Ranna, Jace’s mother, still grieving over the loss of Jace at Ranna’s home in Vryn. Their day is interrupted when Chandra and Ajani visit and surprise the two of them with the news that Jace is still alive and still attempting to carry out his plan. They recruit Vraska to help them look for him and talk him out of it. Ranna tells Vraska she will look after Loot while she helps them hunt for Jace and gives Vraska a package to deliver to Jace. Vraska agrees to help and will travel through the Omenpaths to Jace as long as Chandra and Ajani get Garruk, who is on Muraganda, to join the cause.
The story cuts to Chandra and Ajani on Muraganda where they traverse the dangerous terrain of the dinosaur world, searching for Garruk. Garruk finds them and brings them back to his cabin where they chat over tea. Chandra and Ajani tell him about how Jace wants to overwrite the current multiverse and that they need his help as Garruk has been the only person not fooled by Jace’s illusions. Eventually Garruk agrees to help, but in return he needs information from people who understand wards, seals, magical containment. Chandra and Ajani tell Garruk that isn’t a problem.
From there, we see Jace, the Theorist, talking to Jace, the Guildpact, in Ravnica. The Guildpact is imprisoned on the illusion of Ravnica and is tasked with reviewing the Theorist’s plan. The Guildpact tells the Theorist that it is flawed then criticizes him over cutting this part of him out. The Guildpact is the part of Jace that can see the problems in the plan and knows they are in over their head. The Theorist storms off, refusing to listen to the Guildpact’s reasoning, leaving him crumpled in a heap among the rubble of Ravnica.
The closing chapter of Episode 3 picks up with Vraska traveling the Omenpaths. She curses the new method of traveling, knowing she won’t reach her destination for another day. As she settles down for sleep, she sees a vision of her perception of Jace. Jace is a general in this vision, the part of him that frightens her. He tells her, “I am who you feared becoming.”
In the vision, Jace asks Vraska if he is a good man or a monster. Before she can answer, he says he can be both. When Vraska snaps awake from the dreamlike vision, she realizes she doesn’t really know who or what Jace is. Her love is an enigma. She knows she has made a mistake. What will she do with this realization when she reaches the last Omenpath on the trip and faces a new Multiverse upon her destination?
