  Pack 1 pick 1:

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 2:

  My Pick:

I don’t like the way this draft is going. Not only do I pick WG cards but I am also only passing Naya in the first two packs. Magma Spray and Jungle Shrine are very good too but there are only a few commons I consider taking over Squire (Branching Bolt Oblivion Ring and depending on the deck Resounding Thunder and Wild Nacatl).

  Pack 1 pick 3:

  My Pick:

I’d like to go WG Exalted to avoid conflict with my left neighbors in pack 2 but the two cards I can play here are Naya Panorama and Hissing Iguanar. White and Green are almost always the two main colors of a Naya Deck. Therefore Red cards have to be splashes and as I’ve passed a Panorama and Jungle Shrine already it is one of my last opportunities to get a fixer. Concerning Hissing Iguanar it is just not good enough to deserve a splash.

  Pack 1 pick 4:

  My Pick:

Mosstodon is good as well but speed is the key in the deck I’m trying to build.

  Pack 1 pick 7:

  My Pick:

There is almost no way I’m playing a seven mana creature while Gift if not great can be useful.

  Pack 1 pick 8:

  My Pick:

Guardians of Akrasa would be good too as I am trying to get as many exalted cards as possible but I need removal spells at some point.

  Pack 1 pick 9:

  Pack 1 pick 10:

  My Pick:

Resounding Wave is good but if I can do anything to make the guy on my left go Esper…

  Pack 2 pick 1:

  My Pick:

Hi bro! Sigiled Paladin would be very good but Ranger of Eos is great in the deck. With a third Squire or Wild Nacatl it will definitely be a game breaker.

  Pack 2 pick 2:

  My Pick:

Sigil Blessing would be pretty good too but I guess I can afford to play Thoctar with double Panorama. Luckily Angelic Benediction will wheel.

  Pack 2 pick 3:

  My Pick:

Mosstodon is excellent with Exalted and pump but I haven’t had as many of those as I would have liked.

  Pack 2 pick 4:

  My Pick:

Soul’s Fire may be a splash but it’s also my first removal spell and it is really good with Topan Ascetic Woolly Thoctar and Exalted creatures.

  Pack 2 pick 5:

  My Pick:

Wild Nacatl is not only one of the best card in my deck it also makes Ranger of Eos amazing.

  Pack 2 pick 6:

  My Pick:

WG exalted deck uber-draws always put the opponent on 5 life or less. Soul’s Fire may be a little hard to cast but if I draw the right mana it will be amazing here.

  Pack 2 pick 7:

  My Pick:

Maybe I should have taken a sideboard card over it but Volcanic Submersion is not exactly a card I’d like to splash when I need the fastest possible draw versus Esper and I just like having any two-mana 2/2s in my deck over Relic of Progenitus even versus an Unearth deck.

  Pack 2 pick 8:

  Pack 2 pick 9:

  Pack 2 pick 10:

  Pack 2 pick 11:

  My Pick:

Not exactly the splash I am dreaming of but as I’ve fine fixers and double Soul’s Fire who knows?

  Pack 2 pick 12:

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 13:

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 14:

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 1:

  My Pick:

One more reason to play Incurable Ogre and also a fantastic card with all the Exalted guys.

  Pack 3 pick 2:

  My Pick:

Now my deck is absolutely ridiculous.

  Pack 3 pick 3:

  My Pick:

Valeron Outlander could be good as well but I only have three non-creature spells and I can’t afford not having the White and the Green mana in the early game. Concerning the 2 Soul’s Fire it shouldn’t make a difference as I’ll play it instead of a Forest or a Plains and as I should be able to have three other lands by the time I want to cast it.

  Pack 3 pick 4:

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 5:

  My Pick:

I can afford one high-cost guy in my deck. If I had already drafted one or two late drops I was wishing to play I’d have picked Might of Alara.

  Pack 3 pick 6:

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 7:

  My Pick:

Gleam could be an option as well but if I play it I probably won’t be able to run Ziggurat. Therefore I pick a 2/3 which also fits pretty well into my very low curve (too low maybe?).

  Pack 3 pick 8:

  My Pick:

Maybe Ranger of Eos can make it good enough to make the cut.

  Pack 3 pick 9:

  My Pick:

Mystic is hard to cast and doesn’t accelerate into anything here while the 2/1 is amazing versus Esper.

  Pack 3 pick 10:

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 11:

  My Pick:

Pretty nice with double Soul’s Fire.

Nacatl Savage are sideboard cards for Esper. Also Tukatongue Thallid is pretty nice here as I can search for it with Ranger of Eos. Yoked Plowbeast could be another option but I doubt many games will be long enough for to anything besides cycling it. My deck is extremely powerful maybe the best I’ve drafted in this column so far and if I don’t face any mass removal I should be able to beat any deck.

7 Plains
6 Forest
Mountain
Ancient Ziggurat
2 Naya Panorama

2 Akrasan Squire
Noble Hierarch
Tukatongue Thallid
Wild Nacatl
Aven Squire
Steward of Valeron
2 Sighted-Caste Sorcerer
Knight of the Skyward Eye
Aven Trailblazer
Topan Ascetic
Woolly Thoctar
Ranger of Eos
Wall of Reverence
Rhox Bodyguard
Nacatl Hunt-Pride

Might of Alara
Excommunicate
Gift of the Gargantua
2 Soul’s Fire
Angelic Benediction

ROUND 1: JUND (Limited rating 1593)
My opening seven is pretty nice. I play first and start off with turn 1 Noble Hierarch turn 2 Wild Nacatl and Sighted-Case Paladin. As I attack for five on every turn Soul’s Fire gives me a turn 5 kill. On game 2 I miss land drops on turns 3 and 4 but still kill him on turn 6.

ROUND 2: JUND (1740)
Game 1 is pretty bad. With 11 lands and 4 spells things are a little hard for me. Thankfully he isn’t able to find a Black land nor find any way to stop Wild Nacatl. When he eventually draws his Black land and deals with the kitty he is only on 4 life. And that’s when I draw my fifth spell Aven Trailblazer. Drawing Swamp surprisingly didn’t make his draw much scarier and he dies to the 2/2 two turns later.

In the second game my draw is a lot better. I play turn 1 Hierarch turn 2 Topan Ascetic turn 3 Angelic Benediction turn 4 Rhox Bodyguard and turn 5 double Akrasan Squire with a Might of Alara in back up. I don’t need to use it and he concedes just before I kill him on turn 6.

ROUND 3: 5CC (1708)
Then I face the match in which I do eventually see the feared Jund Charm.

At first I open with turn 2 Thoctar. Six points go through but he has Bant Charm. I then play two guys and Angelic Benediction but he has the Jund Pyroclasm. The good news is that I still have few guys in back up and my first assaults put him very low on life. He does try to play a blocker but my Enchantment opens the way for my my last guys to finish him off.

In game two I have pretty sweet draws again. Turn 1 Hierarch turn 2 Steward turn 3 Ranger of Eos and Wild Nacatl. If he now has Jund Charm he probably takes the game. Despite having the RGB mana he apparently doesn’t have the Pyroclasm and my nut draw can keep on with turn 4 Wall of Reverence and turn 5 Topan Ascetic. After I gained 8 life he looked at his next draw and conceded.

Until Monday…
