Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and IGN, Magic: The Gathering fans got a first look at 24 new cards coming in the Holiday Release version of The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth.
This second printing of the set releases on November 3 and with it comes four new Scene Boxes featuring 24 new cards along with special rock poster treatments of 20 cards from the original set. Check out the 24 new cards in their borderless scene versions below.
Gandalf in Pelennor Fields
Aragorn at Helm’s Deep
Flight of The Witch-King
The Might of Galadriel
Each scene focuses on a brand-new multicolor legendary creature and five accompanying cards in the legend’s color identity. Each Scene Box includes the six cards in traditional foil, art cards of each with a stand to display them, and three set boosters of The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth. Preorders for each Scene Box on Amazon looks to be about $40.
The article from IGN doesn’t clarify whether these new cards from the Scene Boxes will be available anywhere else, but it is likely that normal versions of these cards could appear in booster packs of the set’s Holiday Release.
As part of the Holiday Release of the set, special edition Collector Boosters will be sold, containing alternate art and alternate frame versions of cards from the set, an all-new foil treatment, and rock poster full-art versions of 20 cards from the original set. Check out the rock poster treatments for Aragorn, the Uniter, Saruman, of Many Colors, Arwen, Mortal Queen, Gandalf the White, and Mount Doom.
The special edition Collector Boosters will also bring back serialized cards, with these treatments getting 100 serialized versions of each.
