Constructed Standard Video: U/W Illusions Featuring Geist Of Saint Traft!

This week’s Illusions deck is much more aggressive, and really shows you how good Geist of Saint Traft is against a variety of decks. It’s one of the best decks in the format, so get your taste of it here as Todd runs it in a Daily Event.

This week, we’re reverting back to something more aggressive. Geist of Saint Traft is amazing, but only when combined with a substantial amount of other pressure. He’s great on his own, but he’s even better when your opponent has to use their resources dealing with your other threats.

Without additional creatures to attack your opponent and trade in combat, they will often have more blockers for your Geist of Saint Traft once it hits play. Additionally, playing fewer creatures makes cards like Gut Shot and Vapor Snag worse, not to mention Moorland Haunt. Last week I felt like I was flooding out too much, but really I was just not drawing enough threats. This deck is much more aggressive, and really shows you how good Geist of Saint Traft is against a variety of decks.

While I don’t normally beat a dead horse, Illusions just put up incredible numbers at SCG: St. Louis, and nearly took home the title. Pat McGregor went undefeated in the swiss, losing his only match to the eventual winner (and bad matchup) in Mono Red. While Mono Red is normally a bad matchup, Geist of Saint Traft gives you a new weapon to fight against them that they aren’t really prepared to deal with.

This week we’re going to get into the nitty gritty with Illusions featuring Geist of Saint Traft.

Enjoy!
