Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC), check out the Alchemy: Kamigawa previews from March 14!
The third card previewed in the cycle of self-discounting mythic rares, Saiba Syphoner comes equipped with flash and can be cast for UU if there are no instant or sorcery cards in your hand. Being able to return an instant or sorcery from your graveyard to your hand is a helpful way to get an extra use from your deck’s most powerful spells, plus the card itself can be reused, as it returns to your library whenever it would die.
Boseju Pathlighter is a three-mana 3/2 with an enter the battlefield ability that helps ensure you’ll hit your next land drop. Upon entering the battlefield, you’ll draft a card from its spellbook, which contains 15 unique lands, all of which can be seen below.
Bellowbreath Ogre is a three-mana 3/3 with a unique ability. Each time it attacks, it deals damage equal to its intensity (which starts at 1) to any target, and then increases its intensity perpetually by 1. This is a strong midgame threat that either forces a removal spell, or will end up dealing a ton of damage.
Kami of Transmutation is a two-mana 2/2 that can perpetually make permanents in your hand into artifacts or enchantments in addition to its other types. Since this ability activates whenever it both enters and leaves the battlefield, it can easily apply its effect to multiple cards, making for plenty of sweet interactions.
Fragment Reality is unique removal spell that answers nontoken artifacts, creatures, and enchantments, and can double as a way to trade out your higher-cost cards for a random creature with lesser mana value. While only time will tell how strong this card is, it’s definitely poised to be one of Alchemy’s best removal spells.
Foundry Beetle is a two-mana 2/2 with first strike that perpetually decreases the cost of a random artifact in your hand by one each upkeep. It can also be reconfigured for one red mana and become an equipment. This is another card that likely draws out a removal spell, or else it generates a ton of value over time.
Junkyard Scrapper is a three-mana 3/3 that fits perfectly in artifact-based strategies, especially Paired alongside cards like Kami of Transmutation and Foundry Beetle. This card is another one worth keeping an eye on, as cheap artifacts are prevalent with the release of Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty.
For two mana, Undercity Plunder forces your opponent to discard at least one card, and then gives them the choice of either discarding a second one, or allowing you to conjure a duplicate of a random card from their library. Additionally, you can cast the conjured card with mana of any color, and being that it could be anything from their library, your opponent will be left guessing what they’re having to play around.
Runaway growth is a four-mana enchantment that starts with intensity 1 and increases each time the enchanted land is tapped for mana. Each time the land is tapped, you add an additional green mana equal to the intensity, meaning if you can find a way to untap that land, there is big combo potential waiting.
Soul Servitude is a sweet removal spell that forces an opponent to sacrifice a creature and then gives you the option to discard a card from your hand in order to conjure a copy of the sacrificed creature. While often times opponents will want to sacrifice their least impactful creature, there will be times where Soul Servitude hits their haymaker, and you get to add that extra threat to your hand.
