Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has provided a series of important details about updates for MTG Arena.
October Qualifier Weekends
On the weekends of October 9-10 and 30-31*, players can participate in weekend qualifier events.

*Note: for those in Europe, the October 31 Day 2 event will start one hour earlier, 14:00–16:00 CEST, because of the end of Daylight Savings (this only applies to Europe).
#FindYourChampion
October 8-10, players can participate in the #FindYourChampion event, where you’ll “win prizes by picking one of the 16 top players from across the 2020–21 season as your champion.”
How it works:
- Go to https://magic.gg/events/magic-world-championship-xxvii.
- Select your champion from among the top 16 players and register your choice.
- Follow the competition to see how your champion performs.
- Play in Best-of-One matches with the champions’ Standard decks!
Prizes
- 1st place: Magic World Championship trophy pet and sleeve, plus six rare individual card rewards (ICRs)
- 2nd place: Magic World Championship sleeve and four rare ICRs
- 3rd–4th place: Magic World Championship sleeve and two rare ICRs
- 5th–16th place: Magic Championship sleeve and one rare ICR
You’ll also be able to compete against other players in a Best-of-One event using the Standard deck of your chosen champion. The first two wins will earn you 1,000 XP each, followed by an exclusive World Championship sleeve cosmetic for the third.
Midnight Hunt Constructed Event
Dates: October 1–4
Format: Innistrad: Midnight Hunt Constructed
Entry: 500 gold or 100 gems
Structure: Best-of-One, play until four wins or two losses
Rewards:
- 4 wins: 600 gold + 1 rare ICR + 2 uncommon ICRs (5% to upgrade)
- 3 wins: 450 gold + 1 uncommon ICR (35% to upgrade) + 2 uncommon ICRs (5% to upgrade)
- 2 wins: 300 gold + 1 uncommon ICR (25% to upgrade) + 2 uncommon ICRs (5% to upgrade)
- 1 win: 150 gold + 1 uncommon ICR (15% to upgrade) + 2 uncommon ICRs (5% to upgrade)
- 0 wins: 3 uncommon ICRs (5% to upgrade)
