Wacky Wednesdays #28: 57 Goblins playing Chicken!

Yes, goblins doing what they do best: Cower and hide… Only when they are sure they have superior numbers, they will attack. But sometimes just attacking isn’t enough to kill the opponent.

57 Goblins playing Chicken! By Andrew Joines

My brother, a friend of his, and myself were in a three-way Tribes-style free-for-all. I was playing my goblin deck, my brother playing a Spike deck, and his friend playing R rat deck. My deck included Goblin Offensive (yes, they are!!), Ashnod’s Altar, and Coat of Arms (which is not really the best pick for a tribes deck, but you will see why I ran it later).

The game drags on and eventually it is just my brother and myself. By sacrificing my goblins to the Altar for mana to power the Offensive multiple times, I have 57 1/1 goblin tokens in play. With Coat of Arms in play, that makes them all 57/57!

My brother has several spikes, in play including a Spike Weaver. I attack with twenty goblins to get him to remove a counter from the Weaver. During his turn, he plays… Poultrygeist!

Whenever a creature is put into any graveyard from play, you may roll a six-sided die. On a 1, sacrifice Poultrygeist. Otherwise put a +1/+1 counter on Poultrygeist.

You have to be kidding me – Poultrygeist! He said he just threw it in for fun to throw people off. He moves spike counters around to keep from possibly having to sac the chicken, but still keep the Weaver going. I have no fliers and I can’t topdeck any burn. You guessed it: Killed by a 1/1 undead chicken with a grudge while having fifty-seven 57/57 goblin tokens in play. That was the most fun game of Magic I have ever had. And I lost!

Next week

I have nothing for next week yet, so send me your cool multiplayer stories and you have a chance on getting $5 StarCity credit. Email me at [email protected].

Have fun,
