P1p2 Here is where I have to choose between Esper and Naya with Fatestitcher and Knight being the only cards I really would take. I like Naya more at this point.

The rest of the draft felt very straightforward as I quickly fell into a heavy White Naya deck and just picked as such.

Round 1 versus Grixis
G1 My turn 2 Sigiled Paladin does 15 damage this game since even though he has removal it goes towards the better guys I played later. When he taps out for a Corpse Connoisseur I have the Oblivion Ring to get in for lethal.
G2 My opponent’s deck is pretty removal heavy but if my deck has anything in abundance its useless creatures. He keeps killing my guys but I always have more. Eventually the last Thoctar does him in as is usually the case.

Round 2 versus Grixis
G1 I have a really good start with turn 2 Paladin turn 3 Knight of the Skyward Eye and turn 5 Battlegrace. Unfortunately he has Agony Warp Grixis Charm and Blood Cultist and kills all my guys. I lose to a Fire-Field Ogre a few turns later.
G2 This is a freebie as he never plays a 3rd land.
G3 I have a bunch of two-drops and he doesn’t have Red until too late. By then I have a Thoctar and a Plowbeast and am able to beat him to death with those. I got pretty lucky here as he beat me fairly easily when I had my best draw of the three games then his deck failed to perform after that.

Round 3 versus Grixis/Esper
G1 I mulligan to 6 but my curve is turn 1 Squire turn 2 Knight of the Skyward Eye turn 3 Sigiled Paladin turn 4 Oblivion Ring and he just dies.
G2 and G3 were almost the same as both games I got him very low then he used his good lategame cards like Kiss of the Amesha and Kederekt Leviathan to stabilize and then beat me with all the card advantage he had accumulated. This is exactly why I don’t like aggro: when you almost have them you have to watch helplessly as they pull away and start beating you.

Until tomorrow…
