Innistrad: Crimson Vow Delivers Blue New Mythic Rare Spirit In Cemetery Illuminator

Need a light? Cemetery Illuminator can show you the way.

Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC), allow Star City Games to shed some light on a blue mythic rare coming to Innistrad: Crimson Vow — Cemetery Illuminator!

Cemetery Illuminator is a 2/3 Spirit with flying to kick things off and only gets better as you keep reading.

Whenever Cemetery Illuminator enters the battlefield or attacks, exile a card from a graveyard.

Graveyard hate is always appreciated, especially when it’s attached to a relevant body. Cemetery Illuminator not only triggers on entering the battlefield, but whenever it attacks. If this Spirit sticks around, it’s going to clear out an opposing graveyard or perhaps your own to power up its later abilities.

You may look at the top card of your library any time.

You had my curiosity…

Once each turn, you may cast a spell from the top of your library if it shares a card type with a card exiled with Cemetery Illuminator.

But now you have my attention…

Be mindful when picking and choosing which cards to exile with Cemetery Illuminator, as you’ll also be able to gain some card advantage if you’re selecting the proper card types. If your deck is stock full of creatures, say other Spirits, Cemetery Illuminator will let you cast one off your library each turn. Many Spirits have flash, so you can even leverage this on each turn. Of course, if your deck is more controlling, you might want to target instants or sorceries first so you can get more counterspells, card drawing, or removal.

What do you think of Cemetery Illuminator? Will this mythic rare be able to make a splash in more decks than just Spirits?
