Gavin Verhey used today’s episode of Good Morning Magic to explain how the dog creature type finally got through in Core Set 2021.
Verhey goes over the history of the debate between Hound versus Dog and how Wizards of the Coast (WotC) finally came around to the dog creature type after seeing how popular cats in recent sets have been.
With the introduction of cards like Pack Leader and Bolt Hound in Core Set 2021, dogs will also replace hound historically. Though two specific cards will revert back to dog after starting as them originally.
Verhey then shows how WotC hinted at the switch to dog with the playtest card Ruff, Underdog Champ from Mystery Boosters.
Verhey wraps up the video going over his five favorite hounds that will now be able to join everyone’s dog commander decks.
