With the Witherbloom Commander deck being previewed today, Gavin Verhey brought artist Jesper Ejsing on Good Morning Magic to discuss how he made the illustration of Willowdusk, Essence Seer.
The Danish artist broke into making Magic art back in Lorwyn and talked about how he started playing the game and his current favorite Commander decks. After that, the two talked about how Ejsing used the art description to start the project.
Ejsing began with a few sketches and almost started painting one of them.
But he gave the project one more sketch that more worked with what he wanted and it got approved.
From there, Ejsing started the painting process with acrylics.
The end result turned out to be the painting below, which took around three days to complete.
